AHAPN-ABUTH Holds Send-Forth and Award Ceremony for Intern Pharmacists

The Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN), ABUTH Chapter, has celebrated the successful completion of the 2025/2026 internship programme with a send-forth and award ceremony, honouring outstanding interns and preceptors while recognising the contributions of senior pharmacists to the department's growth and excellence.
The Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN), Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria, on Wednesday, June 18, 2026, held a send-forth and award ceremony in honour of its intern pharmacists for the 2025/2026 internship session.
The event marked the successful completion of the interns' one-year mandatory internship programme and celebrated their contributions to the department during their training.
The ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including the Head of Department, Pharm. (Mrs.) Bilkisu Umar, a representative of the Director of Administration, chairmen of sister associations, consultant pharmacists, and other members of staff.
As part of the event, outstanding individuals were recognised for their dedication and excellence. Pharm. Suleiman Aliyu Umar received the Pharmacy Preceptor of the Year Award, while Pharm. Maryam Adati Yahaya was honoured with the Intern Pharmacist of the Year Award for the 2025/2026 session.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Association commended the interns, describing them as one of the most disciplined, dedicated, and skilled sets of intern pharmacists the department has hosted in recent years.
Speaking at the event, the Head of Department expressed appreciation for the interns' exemplary conduct and encouraged them to remain worthy ambassadors of ABUTH as they embark on the next phase of their professional journeys.
In his closing remarks, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, who also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Association, acknowledged the immense contributions and sacrifices of senior colleagues and elders in building the department. He noted that the department's current standards, reputation, and numerous opportunities are products of the dedication and commitment of these senior professionals.
On behalf of the leadership and members of AHAPN-ABUTH, the association extended its best wishes to the outgoing interns as they transition into the broader professional world. The association also expressed appreciation to all dignitaries and members whose support contributed to the success of the event.
The association further congratulated the award recipients and wished them continued success in their professional endeavours.
