PCN Inducts 85 Foreign Trained Pharmacists, Charges Them to Lead with Integrity and Compassion
The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria has inducted 85 foreign trained pharmacy graduates into the profession, urging them to pursue their passion with integrity, compassion, and professionalism while contributing to the advancement of healthcare in Nigeria.
Abuja, Nigeria – The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) has inducted 85 foreign trained pharmacy graduates into the Nigerian pharmacy profession following the successful completion of the 2026 First Cycle Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Orientation Programme (FPGOP).
The induction ceremony, held at the National Universities Commission (NUC) Headquarters in Abuja, officially admitted the graduates into pharmacy practice in Nigeria after they fulfilled the Council's regulatory requirements.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Registrar of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN), Pharm. Ibrahim Babashehu Ahmed, encouraged the newly inducted pharmacists to identify the areas of pharmacy practice they are most passionate about and pursue them with dedication. He urged them to approach every responsibility with professionalism, integrity, and compassion, stressing that these values should remain their guiding principles throughout their careers.
He further assured the inductees that with patience, commitment, and continuous self-development, they could rise to the highest levels of the profession and become role models who inspire future generations of pharmacists.
The Registrar also reminded the pharmacists of the need to uphold the ethical standards of the profession, participate actively in the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programme, and comply with all regulatory requirements guiding pharmacy practice in Nigeria.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Occasion, Pharm. (Dr.) Luka Panya, the Esu Karu, congratulated the newly inducted pharmacists and urged them to channel the knowledge and experience gained abroad towards advancing pharmacy practice and improving healthcare delivery in the country.
Similarly, the Chairperson of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, Pharm. (Haj.) Wosilat O. Giwa, charged the inductees to remain committed to discipline, professionalism, and ethical practice, expressing confidence that their international training would contribute meaningfully to the growth of pharmacy education and pharmaceutical care in Nigeria.
Among the dignitaries present at the ceremony were the Special Guest of Honour, Dr. David Atuwo, Senior Special Assistant to the Honourable Minister of Health; the Chairperson of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, Pharm. (Haj.) Wosilat O. Giwa; the Chairman of the Occasion, Pharm. (Dr.) Luka Panya (Esu Karu); members of the PCN Governing Council; senior officials of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria; representatives of the National Universities Commission (NUC); pharmacy stakeholders; family members; and well-wishers.
The induction marks another milestone in the Council's efforts to ensure that foreign-trained pharmacists entering the Nigerian healthcare system possess the professional competence, ethical foundation, and regulatory knowledge required to provide quality pharmaceutical care.
